A Guide to Editting Guild Information

     NOTE: Make sure to end all color strings with {x to prevent color bleeding.
     NOTE: When editing ranks, make sure to specify a number or you will crash the port.

             NOTE: Creating a mob will automatically access the mob editor for that mob's vnum.

    B. Naming Mobs
         1. Access the room editor.
         2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
         3. Type 'name [name]' into the command prompt and press enter.

             NOTE: The name given to a mob will be the name that players use to interact with that mob.
                         Thusly, colorization and capitalization should not be used.

III.  How to Assign a Mob's Sex, Race, and Size
       A. Setting a Mob's Sex
            1. Access the room editor.
            2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
            3. Type '? sex' into the command prompt and press enter.
            4. Choose the appropriate sex for the mob,  then type 'sex [sex]' into the command prompt
                and press enter.
            5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the selected sex.
        B. Setting A Mob's Race
            1. Access the room editor.
            2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
            3. Type 'race ?' into the command prompt and press enter.
            4. Choose the appropriate race for the mob, then type 'race [race]' into the command prompt 
                 and press enter.

                 NOTE: If there is not a race for the specific mob that you're creating, choose a race
                             that is similar in structure.

             5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the selected race.
        C. Setting a Mob's Size
             1. Access the room editor.
             2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
             3. Type '? size' into the command prompt and press enter.
             4. Choose the appropriate size for the mob, then type 'size [size]' into the command prompt
                 and press enter.
             5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the selected size.

IV. How to Set a Mob's Act Flag and Damage Type
      A. Setting a Mob's Act Flag/s
           1. Access the room editor.
           2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
           3. Type '? act' into the command prompt and press enter.

               *  Acceptedable Act Flags
                   - sentinel              - aggressive               - mount              - indoors
                   - stay_area           - wimpy                    - pet                   - outdoors

             4. Choose the appropriate act flag/s for the mob, then type 'act [action]' into the command prompt
                  and press enter.
             5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the selected act flag.
         B. Setting a Mob's Damage Type
              1. Access the room editor.
              2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
              3. Type '? weapon' into the command prompt and press enter.
              4. Choose a damage type from the list, then type 'damtype [damtype]' into the command prompt
                   and press enter.
              5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the selected damtype.

V. How to Set a Mob's Descriptions and Kill/Die Messages
     A. Setting a Mob's Short Description
          1. Access the room editor.
          2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
          3. Type 'short [description]' into the command prompt and press enter.

              NOTE: The short description is the string displayed when a mob completes an action.
              NOTE: Color is encouraged in these descriptions, but it is asked that you use tasteful color
                          combinations and remember to close each colored string with {x.

          4. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the short description.
      B. Setting a Mob's Long Description
          1. Access the room editor.
          2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
          3. Type 'long [decription]' into the command prompt and press enter.

              NOTE: The short description is the string displayed as the mob's room description.
              NOTE: Color is encouraged in these descriptions, but it is asked that you use tasteful color
                          combinations and remember to close each colored string with {x.

           4. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the long description.
      C. Setting a Mob's Description
           1. Access the room editor.
           2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be editted.
           3. Type 'desc' into the command prompt and press enter.
           4. Enter the desired description and format it.

                NOTE: The description is the string displayed when a player looks at a mob.
                NOTE: Color is encouraged in these descriptions, but it is asked that you use tasteful color
                          combinations and remember to close each colored string with {x.

           5. Review the description and exit the editor.
       D. Setting a Mob's Kill/Die Messages
            1. Access the room editor.
            2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.
            3. Type '[kill/die] [string]' into the command prompt and press enter.

                NOTE: The kill/die messages are the string displayed when a player attacks/kills a mob.
                NOTE: Color is encouraged in these descriptions, but it is asked that you use tasteful color
                          combinations and remember to close each colored string with {x.

            4. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the kill/die messages.

VI. How to Set a Mob's Level
      A. Setting a Mob's Level  
           1. Access the room editor.
           2. Access the mob editor for the mob to be edited.

               NOTE: The level is always the last field you set in creating a mob.
               NOTE: Setting a mob's level, race, and damtype will automatically fill in those fields

    C. Setting an Object's Short Description

         2. Access the object editor for the object to be edited.
         3. Type 'short [description]' into the command prompt and press enter.
             
             NOTE: The short description is the description displayed when a player interacts with an
                         object.  Color is encouraged in these descriptions, but should not be excessive.
    
    D. Setting and Object's Long Description
         1. Access the room editor.
         2. Access the object editor for the object to be edited.
         3. Type 'long [description]' into the command prompt and press enter.
             
             NOTE: The long description is the description displayed for how an object appears in a
                          room.  Color is encouraged in these descriptions, but should not be excessive.
    
    E. Setting Extra Descriptions on an Object
        1. Access the room editor.
        2. Access the object editor for the object to be edited.
        3. Type 'ed add [keyword]' into the command prompt and press enter.
            
            NOTE: The keyword is the word used to view the extra description.  It shouldn't contain
                         capitals, spaces, or colors.
            NOTE: Setting the keyword will automatically access the description editor.

               the displayed list.
               
               NOTE: Nearmind equipment should not be created.
           
           4. Type 'wear take [flag]' into the command prompt and press enter.
               
               NOTE: Any object that a player can pick-up must have the take flag set with the other
                           wear flag.
               NOTE: You can only set one wear flag beyond the take flag.
           
      B. Setting an Object's Extra Flags
          1. Access the room editor.
          2. Access the object editor for the object to be edited.
          3. Type '? extra' into the command prompt and press enter, then choose an extra flag
              from the displayed list.
              
              * Acceptable Extra Flags
                 - glow                  - hum                  - nopurge                 - shimmer
                 - remort               - spiked               - balanced
          
          4. Type 'extra [flag]' into the command prompt and press enter.
              
              NOTE: These flags should not be stacked, and not be made common on items.

V. How to Set Values and Add Affects
    A. Setting Furniture Values
         1. Access the room editor.

         3. Set the maximum number of people.
             a. Type 'v0 [#]' into the command prompt and press enter.
         4. Set the maximum weight.
             a. Type 'v1 [#]' into the command prompt and press enter.
         5. Set the furniture flags.
             a. Type '? furniture' into the command prompt and press enter, then choose the appropriate
                 flag/s.
             b. Type 'v2 [flag/s]' into the command prompt and press enter.
         6. Set the heal bonus.
             a. Type 'v3 [#]' into the command prompt and press enter.
         7. Set the mana bonus.
             a. Type 'v4 [#]' into the command prompt and press enter.
             
             NOTE: Unless it is being used in a crecall or recall area, the heal and mana bonuses on
                         furniture should not be set to more than 50.
    
    B. Setting Weapon Values
         1. Access the room editor.
         2. Access the object editor for the object to be edited.
         3. Set the weapon class.
            a. Type '? wclass' into the command prompt and press enter, then choose the desired
                class.
            b. Type 'v0 [class]' into the command prompt and press enter.
         4. Set the damage type.
             a.Type '? weapon' into the command prompt and press enter, then choose the desired
                damage type.
             b. Type 'v3 [type]' into the command prompt and press enter.
         5. Set the special type.
             a. Type '? wtype' into the command prompt and press enter, then choose the desired
                 special type.
                 
                 * Acceptable Special Weapon Types
                    - flaming               - frost               - vampiric               - sharp

             b. Type 'v4 [type]' into the command prompt and press enter.
                 
                 NOTE: Objects with special type flags should be few and far between, and objects with
                             with the special flags should only have one special flag.
    
    C. Setting Add Affects
         1. Access the room editor.
         2. Access the object editor for the object to be edited.
         3. Type 'addaffect [affect] [modifier]' into the command prompt and press enter.
             
             * Acceptable Add Affects
                - strength                 - dexterity                 - intelligence                  - wisdom
                - constitution            - mana                      - hp                               - move

                - charisma
             
             NOTE: You must type out the full name of the affect.
             NOTE: The modifer number cannot be greater than the number provided when

   A. Resetting a One-of-a-Kind Mob
       1. Goto the room where the reset is to be.
       2. Access the room editor.
       3. View the room's resets to see what the next reset slot is.
       4. Type 'reset [#] mob [vnum]' into the command prompt and press enter.
           
           NOTE: Only use this format when there is only one of that particular mob exiting
                       in an area.
   
   B. Resetting Multiples of the Same Mob
        1. Goto the room where the reset is to be.
        2. Access the room editor.
        3. View the room's resets to see what the next reset slot is.
        4. Type 'reset [#] mob [vnum] [total #] [order #]' into the command prompt and
            press enter.
            
            NOTE: The total number should equal the total number of that mob that you are
                        placing in the area.  (i.e. If you are placing 5 of the same mob in your area,
                        then the total # should be 5.)
            NOTE: The order number should be the number for the order the mob will pop.  (i.e.
                         If you are placing 5 of the same mob in your area, and this particular reset will
                         pop the first mob, then your order number will be 1.  Also, you will need to
                         include resets for mobs 1-5 in the sequence.)

             NOTE: When an object is being reset to a mob, the mob must be reset first, and there should
                         be no resets between the mob and the object.  (i.e. If the mob is reset 1 then the item
                         must be reset 2.)
         
         4. Type 'reset [#] obj [vnum] none' into the command prompt and press enter.
    C. Resetting an Object Inside Another Object
         1. Goto the room where the reset is to be.
         2. Access the room editor.
         3. View the room's resets to see what the next reset slot is.
             
             NOTE: When resetting an object is being reset inside another object, the object that is to
                          contain the second object must be reset first, and there should be no resets
                          between the first object and the second object.  (i.e. If object B is to be reset
                          inside object A, and object A is reset 1, then object B must be reset 2.)
         
         4. Type 'reset [#] obj [vnum] inside [vnum]' into the command prompt and press enter.

     A. Creating Rooms 
          1. Access the room editor. 
          2. View the complete room list to check the availability of vnums in the area. 
          3. Type 'create [vnum]' into the command prompt and press the enter key. 
     B. Linking Rooms 
         1. Access the room editor. 
         2. Goto the room that is to be the orginating point of the link. 
         3. Type '[direction] link [vnum]' into the command prompt and press enter. 

             NOTE: Input the vnum for the room that is to be linked to current room. (i.e. If you are in
                          room 1000 and want to link 1001 to it with an east exit, you should input 'east
                          link 1001'. 
             NOTE: If the exit already exits on the remote end of the link, the code will not allow you
                         link the rooms. (i.e. If you want to link rooms 1000 and 1001 with an east exit and
                         room 1001 has an existing west exit, you cannot link the rooms.) 

    C. Using the Dig Command to Create & Link Rooms 
         1. Access the room editor. 
         2. Goto the room that is to be the orginating point of the link. 
              NOTE: One room must already be created in order to use the dig command. 
         3. View the complete room list to check the availability of vnums in the area. 
         4. Type '[direction] dig [vnum]' into the command prompt and press enter. 

             NOTE: Input the vnum for the room that is to be linked to the current room. (i.e. If you are 
                         in room 1000 and want to create and link room 1001 with an east exit, you should 
                         input 'east dig 1001'.) 
             NOTE: If the room already exists, the code will not allow you to use the dig command to
                         create the link. (i.e. If you want to link rooms 1000 and 1001 and room 1001 has
                         already been created, the code will not allow you to use the dig command to link
                         the rooms.) 
              NOTE: The editor will automatically move you to the newly created room.

III. How to Name & Describe Rooms 
      A. Setting Room Names 
           1. Access the room editor. 
           2. Type 'name [desired name]' into the command prompt and press enter. 

               NOTE: The room name is like a title for the room. As such, it should be properly
                            captialized. 
               NOTE: Color may be used in room names; however, bright and clashing colors and color 
                            combinations should be avoided. 

          3. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt or type 'look' into the command prompt 
              and press enter to review the name. 
      B. Describing Rooms 
          1. Access the room editor. 
          2. Type 'desc' into the command prompt and press enter. 

              NOTE: The description editor works just like the note editor. 

             * Description Editor Commands 
                - .h                  accesses the editor help file 
                - .s                  shows the description that has been entered 
                - .f                   formats the description 
                - .c                  clears the description 
                - .ld [#]            removes the specified line 
                - .lr [#] [str]      replaces the specified line with the new string 
                - .li [#] [str]       insterts a string a specified line. 
                - @                  exits the description editor 

               NOTE: Some MUD clients, such as zMUD require you to enter a ~ before the command
                            in the description editor. 

           3. Enter a description that is at least five lines long. 

                NOTE: Color may be used in room descriptions; however bright and clashing colors 
                             and color combinations should be avoided. Also, it is recommended that a single 
                             color be used for a room descriptions. 
                NOTE: Do not use the word 'you' or any reference to the player in a room description.
                             Describe what can be sensed, and do not force emotions onto a player through a
                             description. 

           4. Format the description. 
           5. Review the description to verify it is at least five lines long. 
           6. Exit the description editor. 
           7. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt, or type 'look' into the command prompt and 
               press enter to review the appearance of the description with the room name.

IV. How to Set Sector, Room, & Exit Flags 
      A. Setting Sector Flags 
           1. Access the room editor. 
           2. Type '? sector' into the command prompt and press enter. 
           3. Choose the appropriate sector flag for the area from the displayed list. 

               NOTE: The sector type that you choose for your area will dictate the tick messages that
                           are displayed in your area. 

          4. Type 'sector [sector]' into the command prompt and press enter. 
          5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the chosen flag. 
     B. Setting Room Flags 
          1. Access the room editor. 
          2. Type '? room' into the command prompt and press enter 
          3. Choose the appropriate room flag/s for the room from the displayed list. 

              * Acceptable Room Flags 
                 - dark           - no_mob           - indoors           - stedding 
                 - private        - safe                 - pet_shop         - no_recall 
                 - pawnshop   - nogate             - climb               - mountshop 

                 NOTE: Do no create a petshop or mountshop without first clearing with the Head 
                             Builder or Assistant Head Builder. 

         4. Type 'room [room]' into the command prompt and press enter. 

             NOTE: Room flags are stackable, so you may choose more than one for your room. 

        5. Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the chosen flag/s. 
   C. Setting Exit Flags 
       1. Access the room editor 
       2. Type '? exit' into the command prompt and press enter. 
       3. Choose the appropriate exit flag/s for the exit/s from the displayed list. 

           * Acceptable Exit Flags 
              - door                - closed                - locked                - climb

           NOTE: Exit flags are stackable, so you may choose more than one for your exit. 

       5 . Press enter on a blank line in the command prompt to review the chosen flag/s.

III. How to Reset Shopkeepers & Items
      A. Resetting Shopkeepers
           1. Access the room editor.
           2. View the room's resets check available reset slots.
           3. Type 'reset [#] mob [vnum]' into the command prompt and press enter.

                NOTE: Shopkeepers should be unique mobs.

       B. Resetting Shop Items
            1. Access the room editor.
            2. View the room's resets to check available reset slots.
            3. Type 'reset [#] obj [vnum] none' into the command prompt and press enter.

                NOTE: Items must be reset to the slots immediately following the shopkeeper's slot.
                NOTE: Shop items must be set to level one so that they have an assigned value.
