C7200 maintenance Menu's

1) Turn on Printer while holding the 1 & 2 buttons.

2) Using button #1 scroll down untill you see "Diagnostic Mode 00.22.00", then hold down buttons 2 & 3.

3) You now have "Engine Diag Mode Level 4" showing on the display.

4) Use Buttons 1 & 5 to scroll between menu's. Scroll down to "Counter Set".

5) Use Buttons 2 & 6 to scroll between menu items. Use buttons 3 & 7 to change the value you wish to alter.

6) The Flashing number is the value you have highlighted. Use Buttons 2 & 6 to change that value.

7) When you have made any changes you need to, hold down buttons 1, 3, and 5. The screen will flash 3 times, then an * will appear at the end of the screen. The Value has been set.

8) The "ID" unit appears to be the drums, setting these values changes the drum usage according to the printer.
The Toner counts are in percentages, and can be changed from 000\% to 999\%, where 0\% is no use, and 100\% is totally used.
The "Dot Count"s set how many times each colour has been used, in the life of that toner(?).
The "Total Dot Count" is the same as the above, but for the entire life of the printer.
The "Replace" values for belt, fuser, drums, and toners show how many times each of those units have been replaced.
The Printer life limit seems like an odd one... its there to make you replace the printer after x(600000) number of prints?
There are also life limits for toners, drums, fuser units, belts etc, which can be changed from the default values.
The (cmyk) "ID Unit" shows how many pages have been printed that include that colour since that item has been installed.
The (cnyk) toner percentages can be changed here manually, but is no use if you've turned off toner counting in the below step.

9) To turn off Toner counting:

After getting into Eng Diag level 4, scroll down to "Engine Parameter Set 2".

Use the 2 & 6 buttons to scroll between options. Scroll to "Toner Sensor".

By Default, this is "Enable".

Change the values by using the 3 & 7 buttons. When you've changed the value to "Disable" press both the 3 & 7 buttons together, and the * will appear, showing that you've set the value correctly.

You can also apply the above change to the "ID Unit"s aswell, being the image drums, to stop any counting of the drum units, allowing them to be used untill image quality suffers.

The above change can also be made to the "Belt Unit" and i'm guessing Fuser unit aswell.

I used the reset advice from Caelum to reset a toner & drum in my OKI C7500 and it worked a treat.

It's more effort than a global reset that returns everything back to zero, but more useful because you know when to carefully watch the printer output -- to prevent a reset toner runs out part way through a job without you realizing (and inadvertently printing 500 pages missing a colour!).

I'll add a couple of observations:
1) The toner count shows percentage life remaining (not life used). I increased the black toner from 0\% back up to 20\% and a colour toner showing 1\% back up to 21\%. I've recorded the changes in a notebook and will watch how much extra toner life I get. I'll then know how much to reset toners in the future.
2) My black drum is at 25,000 pages and still has a perfect output. Super crisp text and no banding. The drums are rated at 20,000 pages, so if you look after them they should last two or three times longer than that. I reset the "life limit" on the drums (ID units) from 20,000 to 40,000 pages. The printer will now wait until 40,000 pages before warning me.
3) Regarding the imaging drums, the biggest killer of these is sunlight. Make sure the printer NEVER has direct sunlight shining on it. Move it into a different part of the room if the sun is going to reach it. When you raise the lid to clear a jamb or change consumables make sure you do it as quickly as possible, and keep the illumination from indoor lights turned down low.

I've taken the liberty of writing a slightly edited version Caelum's reset procedure.

Reseting the consumables on a C7200, C7300 and C7500

1) Turn on Printer while holding the 1 & 2 buttons.

2) Using button 1 scroll down untill you see "Diagnostic Mode xx.xx.xx" (the value of the x's varies according to the printer model), then hold down buttons 2 & 3.

8) The "ID" unit is an imaging drum. The life used (shown as pages) doesn't need to be changed. Instead you change the life limit to get more use out of the drum.
> The Toner counts are life remaining in percentages, and can be changed from 000\% to 100\%, where 0\% is no life remaining, and 100\% is a full toner.
> The "Dot Count" shows how much of each colour has been used in the life of that toner. The OKI printer literally counts how many dots of each colour toner it applies to each page.
> The "Total Dot Count" is the same as the above, but for the entire life of the printer
> The "Replace" values for belt, fuser, drums, and toners show how many times each of those units have been replaced.
> The Printer life limit is 600,000 and will likely require you to service the printer when it is reached.
> The life limits for toners, drums, fuser units, belts etc, can be changed from the default values.
> The (cmyk) "ID Unit" shows how many pages have been printed that include that colour since that item has been installed.

Running an OKI printer has suddenly become a lot cheaper.

ok, this thread is pretty old, but I'm giving it a try. I've got an OKI C5900, and this is what happens when I try to reset my drumcount in the described way:

1. Turn machine on while pushing and holding the TWO up/down menu buttons at same time. step 1 WORKS! JAY!)
2. Menu window will show "OKI USER"
step 2: still fine

3. Scroll to " Engine Dialog Mode" is indicated. Push Enter button.
step 3: also fine

4. "Diagnostic Mode xx.xx.xx S-Mode is indicated.
step 4: yes, doing it!

5. Scroll to "NV-Ram initial" is indicated. Push ENTER.step 5:

This is where the trouble starts, my C5900 doens't give me this option. Here are the options I can choose from: LED head data, sensor setting, factory mode set, printer status, consumable status, dens adj test, reg adjust test, test print, motor&cltch test, switch scan. That's it. I've looked at all the menu's and cant find NV RAM or Initial Table 1 anywhere. I've also tried simultaniously pushing the ENTER and ONLINE button for 10 secs in various submenu's but it does nothing. Anyone still here to help me with this old printer? Not going to buy a new drum for this thing, still works fine and is way too old to invest anything over 10 dollars.
