A network consists of computers connected to each other through another
type of special computer called a router.
A router can be connected to other routers to further increase the amount
of connected computers.
It is responsible for sending information to the correct computer in a network!
But how do we connect to networks that are outside our area of networks? Connecting
to networks far far away?
Since our telephone line is used to connect one home to any home in the world,
we can use this system of connection.
We can attach our routers (with connected computers) to a modem that uses our telephone
line!
In order to send messages from one network to another, we need to connect our network
to a ISP (Internet Service Provider).
This company manages special routers that have connections to other ISP's routers.
Our message is sent through a network of ISP's!
Computer A -> Router A -> ISPA ....other ISP's.... -> ISPB -> Router B -> Computer B
Specifying the computer to send information to
Any computer linked to a network has a unique address that identifies it!
This address is called a IP address (Internet Protocol)
Address contains a series of 4 numbers separated by dots: 192.168.2.10
To make this easier for us to read, as humans: we can alias our IP Address to
a domain name. For example, google's IP Address is 173.194.121.32 and its domain name is
google.com
The internet is an infrastructure of computers connected together, the web is a
service built on top of the internet (which uses special computers called web servers
to send messages to browsers)
